- Plant shallots and onion sets in full sun
in well-drained soil
- Protect new plant growth against slug damage
- Partially drain and top up ponds with fresh
water
- Prune bush roses and apply a granular feed
- Top-dress containers with fresh compost or
controlled-release fertiliser
- Prune back dogwoods and willows grown for
their winter stem colours
- Plant out autumn-sown sweet peas and sow
new spring seeds under protection
- Prepare the soil for new lawns (turf and
seed)
- Ventilate the greenhouse or polythene tunnel
on warm, sunny days
- Trim the lawn on dry days with the mower
on a high setting
